TADS 3, Mike Roberts's interactive fiction language, moves one step closer to being out of beta with Release Candidate 3. RC3 is the last such release before TADS 3 leaves the beta stage.

FrobTADS, the Unix distribution for TADS 2 and 3, now incorporates TADS 3 Release Candidate 3. You can grab it from TADS.org.
Telltale Games stirred up a lot of attention in the adventure game community when they announced that they were working on a new Sam and Max adventure. Since then they've announced that it will be episodic, and now they've announced when they'll release Culture Shock, the first episode: October 17th. At first it will only be available to those with a GameTap subscription, but on November 1st it will be available directly from Telltale Games.
Telltale has also released in-game movies of Culture Shock. The movies are available at places like GameSpot and 3DGamers. Note that the in-game movies reveal puzzle solutions. Telltale also has a few short movies on their site.
Aspyr Games is re-releasing The Longest Journey, the predecessor to Dreamfall, for $10. No word yet on when the game will be available for that price.
